Youth and Children’s Ministries

During Sunday Worship

Our Youth and Children’s programs have started back up again this fall. Watch the calendar for these and other activities.

In the sanctuary…

  • Children's activity bags with a children’s bulletin, coloring pages, quiet toys, and crayons are available at the doors to the sanctuary at all services, and your children are welcome in the sanctuary during worship.

  • We also have a rocking chair in the back of the sanctuary that can be used for nursing or for rocking with your child to make them more comfortable.

Please feel free to contact the church office, with any questions you may have.

Children’s Worship

Starting in September and running through the fall, CBPC will be offering a special worship experience for elementary-aged students once a month (the dates are below).

November 10, and/or December 8.

On these days, children will leave regular worship about halfway through to participate in a Sunday School like lesson and related activities. We are hoping it becomes a time that the kids look forward to as something just for them.

  • Kids 4-7 begin worship in the sanctuary with their parents.

  • Children are invited to come forward for the children’s sermon (a parent may accompany them).

  • After the Children’s Sermon children may stay in the sanctuary with their parents or go with our volunteers to children’s Worship.

On the special occasions when the Children’s Worship volunteers have the Sunday off, kids are invited to worship in the sanctuary (children’s worship bags are available) or attend the nursery for the remainder of the service.

Youth Fellowship

In addition to Sunday School for 6th - 12th graders we also host Sunday evening gatherings of the youth fellowship for supper (usually pizza!) at 5pm, followed by games, activities, service projects, and a devotional time. We also schedule in outings for bowling, pool parties, skating, etc. The youth group also does service out in the community volunteering at various area non-profit organizations like the Salvation Army, Cape Fear branch of the Diaper Bank of North Carolina, and the Help Center of Federal Point. They have also done hospitality outreach, handing out water bottles to beach goers, and picking up trash along the beach. See the church calendar for the schedule of dates.

You can see what the youth have been up to by browsing the church Facebook Page.

Members of the youth group also attend Summer Conferences at Montreat Conference Center (Sr. highs) and Massanetta Springs Conference Center (Jr. highs). The congregation supports youth ministry through regular giving and also through the annual Cornhole Tournament Fundraiser which supports the cost to attend the Summer Conferences.

Vacation Bible School

We held VBS from June 17-20 this year. Children 4 years old through 5th grade gathered to learn about God through a variety of crafts, puppets, skits, music, Bible study, and service projects at Vacation Bible School.

The congregation hosts this event for children from the church and surrounding community. There are always lots of opportunities to participate as a volunteer and we have a great time!
