Presbyterian Men
You don’t have to “join,” just show up and enjoy yourself. Presbyterian Men, also known as Men of the Church, meets on the first Wednesday morning of every month at 7:00 a.m. We share breakfast, fellowship, and a short program. Teams within the group rotate the responsibility to prepare and serve a hearty breakfast. The menu varies among such things as scrambled eggs, grits, biscuits, bacon, country ham, home made sweet rolls, sausage, french toast, or breakfast casseroles.
Past speakers have included a historian from the Fort Fisher Historic Site, staff members or the director of the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, the Mayor of Carolina Beach or other town officials, Dr. Brad Pickens who is a Ph.D. conservationist, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, and speakers from local non-profit organizations: Help Center of Federal Point, Lower Cape Fear Life Care, The Good Shepherd Center, A Safe Place Shelter, etc.
The Community Soup Supper is the men’s biggest event, usually held on the fourth Wednesday in January of each year at 6pm. Check the church calendar for an exact date. They spend about two days preparing the soup and invite the congregation and surrounding community to come enjoy a delicious meal of soup and cornbread. Whenever possible they also arrange for live music at the event.
